Godspell (2012 revival) - 2016

Godspell 2012 is a masterful retelling of the original sensation (1971), injected with contemporary references and dazzling new arrangements.

While staying true to Jesus' messages of kindness, tolerance and love conveyed in Godspell, CAMEO's production team is truly reviving the show for today’s audience.

We participate in storytelling differently now than we did in 1971. Today, we want to be immersed in the story. That’s why we chose to set the show’s time to present day—an age of information, technology and security. The mood and tone of the show also is shifting to one of drama, taking on an Orwellian and oppressive feeling brought on by "The State."

Godspell was the first major musical offering from three-time Grammy and Academy Award winner Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Children Of Eden). Led by the international hit, "Day By Day," Godspell features a parade of beloved, familiar and reimagined songs, including "Prepare Ye The Way Of The Lord," "Learn Your Lessons Well," "All For The Best," "All Good Gifts," "Turn Back, O Man," "By My Side" and more!
